GIVING TUESDAY - HELP FUND TEACHer MINI-GRANTS

The Northwestern Lehigh Education Foundation has funded more than $1.8 million to the Northwestern Lehigh School District including more than $181,000 in Teacher Mini-Grants.

The Teacher Mini-Grant Program provides teachers an avenue to implement new (or the rethinking of existing) educational initiatives in their classroom that are outside of the normal operating budget.

As a Foundation we want to impact students on a daily basis and the best way to do that is through supporting our teachers.

Today, Giving Tuesday, we celebrate the mission of quality education and honor the work of teachers in NWLSD.  Help us fund Teacher Mini-Grants! Even a donation of $10 can make an impact.

"The dry-erase tables are a huge success. The students are able to work on math problems, graphs in their Economics classes, draft ideas for English class, and work collaboratively. I am also able to sit with students and work with them individually drafting and problem-solving whichever assignment comes our way. The dry-erase factor of the table is a huge motivator and, as a result, it is the first seating area the students gravitate to when they enter my room."

"Thank you, NWLEF, for granting me the money to purchase flexible seating in my classroom. With my teaching budget, I would never have been able to purchase these wonderful additions to my classroom. Flexible seating has allowed students who enter my classroom to practice choice during their school day. Some students still choose to sit at desks, while others choose to use a lap desk and sit on the carpet, or sit on a yoga ball chair so they can wobble, bounce, and move during the period. Others choose the table so they have the option to seat higher or even stand. Research has shown that moving increases oxygen flow to the brain as well as blood flow throughout the body. This, in turn, helps students stay alert and focused during instruction."

"My students  really enjoy using the Osmo ipad game system. The games reinforce skills learned in the classroom like spelling, phonics, letter recognition,  and coding. The interactive pieces help keep them engaged while they move through the different levels and skills."
