 The Board of Directors of the Northwestern Lehigh Educational Foundation is responsible for all activities of the Foundation. Each Director plays a role in this responsibility by providing meaningful engagement, support and decision-making, utilizing his or her particular skills, expertise and experience, in connection with the following activities: 

  • Determining how the Foundation will carry out its mission through long and short range planning; 
  • Approving an annual budget and providing fiscal oversight of same; 
  • Serving on a minimum of one Committee of the Foundation, focused on a particular aspect of the Board's activities; 
  • Assisting in the recruitment and orientation of new Board members; 
  • Participation in Foundation events; and 
  • Other activities, as appropriate, in accordance with the expected functioning of the Board in furtherance of its mission.

  • Understand and promote the Foundation’s mission; 
  • Be familiar with the Foundation’s programs, policies, and operations; as well as the School District history and demographics;
  • Communicate effectively with the Executive Committee, Foundation Board of Directors and Development Director; 
  • Stay current on local, statewide and national issues affecting education, funding and related areas of concern, including any areas upon which the Board member's committee focuses; 
  • Maintain a high level of professional and ethical integrity, including accountability, in all Board-related communications, interactions and other activities; 
  • Practice fiscal responsibility with Foundation resources; 
  • Take reasonable steps, commensurate with the Board member's professional and community roles, to promote the Foundation's mission, and to seek to foster goodwill on behalf of the Foundation among the members of the community;
  • Strictly adhere to the Foundation's by-laws and all applicable policies, including but not limited to its conflict of interest policy. 
  • Meet with potential donors/sponsors to make a case for financially supporting the Foundation, answer questions, etc. (varies, depending on involvement)

  • Attend a minimum of four (4) bi-monthly Board meetings and one (1) annual strategic planning meeting, approximately 2 hours in length, typically held on the 2nd Monday;
  • Review agenda and supporting documents prior to meetings, to be sufficiently prepared for meaningful and effective participation; 
  • Actively serve on a minimum of one (1) committee and take on special assignments from time to time; 
  • Participate in a minimum of two (2) events through volunteerism (i.e. Golf Tournament, Clay Shoot, Cornhole Tournament, Tiger Run); 
  • Contribute to a minimum of one (1) event through donation of raffle item(s) or food item(s) (i.e Clay Shoot, Cornhole Tournament)
  • Attend and assist with minimum of two (2) community and/or public relation events (i.e. Night in the Country, Kindergarten Registration, Tree Lighting, Senior Signs);
  • Support a minimum of three (3) Tiger Takeovers through attendance and mingling. 
  • Attend and network at the annual Sponsorship event held each November.
